(obviously the final packaging will be a lot more…attractive)
we will not play another drum, key or bass stab for this album. it’s done. the audio aspect of the project is completely recorded and we couldn’t be more satisfied. subsequently we are officially taking a month or two vacation from watching shitty old sci-fi movies that (deservedly) never saw distribution in the U.S. marginally improved sleep schedules hopefully await as well.
we crammed so many fantastically deranged moments of sound into 56:14. we feel it’s the perfect length. the pacing and sequencing (things we were unbelievably conscious of throughout the recording process) are exactly as strong as we wanted them to be. we do hope everyone who hears this record appreciates the two years of work that went into recording it.
next up is the completion of the 28 page art book which we are very much looking forward to, so expect things to get a bit more colorful around here.

gus and i spent monday afternoon scouting some spots for album/press kit band photos. we had all but given up until we stumbled upon this little slice of hell. located just west of a condemned power plant on a small island, this shack of death was falling apart at the seams. we ignored the no trespassing signs and checked it out for some pre-production shots.
the walls were peeling, the place reeked of stale air and dust and the floor was covered with some soft, lightly colored unrecognizable powder. jagged piping and rusty valves adorned the walls. this was the spot.
when we came back after midnight with our photographer to shoot the real deal, the place was damp, frigid and completely pitch black. armed with only a tiny flashlight, a flash bulb and his camera we worked until 2AM, standing, crouching and sitting in this chemical laden chlorine hut for the sake of art, humanity and giant robots everywhere. we’ll be posting the results soon.

all of these films had some sort of impact on us before or during the making of the album. whether it be plot, characters, soundtrack or cinematography, each one has inspired us in some way. many of them deal with themes like desolation, dark futures, female protagonists and giant fucking robots. they’re not all winners but they all have their place.
